M G Sreekumar

M.G. Sreekumar is an Indian playback singer in Malayalam and Tamil cinema.

Biography

Sreekumar was born in Kerala, in 1950s, to Malabar Gopalan Nair (d. 1973), a harmonist and a classical vocalist. His mother was a music teacher, who retired in 1960s. His brother M G Radhakrishnan is a senior music director at All India Radio Trivandrum, and his sister Dr. K Omanakutty is a Carnatic vocalist, and a Kathakali dancer.

Sreekumar studied at Government Model School, Thiruvananthapuram with Mohanlal, Priyadarshan, and Suresh Kumar. He married Lekha, the youngest daughter of P.Neelakata Pillai, a senior criminal advocate from Thakkalay. He worked as a bank officer State Bank of Travancore from 1982 to 1986.

Sreekumar made his film debut in the film Coolie. He hosts a celebrity music quiz programme on television and he is one of the current judges of a song program named "Idea Star Singer".
